In cold climates, drilling and operating oil wells often require additional environmental protection to ensure long term success of the well. Insulating the conductor casing provides this added protection to prevent the thawing of the permafrost layers adjacent to the well. Double containment insulated piping is used to maintain the structural integrity of the well casing.
