CANADIAN GENERAL MANAGER
Calgary or Camrose, Alberta, Canada
We are seeking a General Manager based either in Calgary or Calgary or Camrose, Alberta, Canada. The General Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the Canadian region, including operations, HSE, sales, marketing, product development, purchasing and business development. The position has full P&L responsibility and is accountable for the growth in EBIT of the business. The General Manager will possess both technical credibility and a high level of leadership presence, with the ability to quickly gain the confidence and respect of the management team; will demonstrate the business savvy to navigate the business; and will be a strong team player, taking a “hands-on” approach to running the business and interfacing with customers.
Develop and recommend a long-term strategy and vision for the business that based on in-depth understanding of market and technology trends, financial opportunities, customer needs and competitive position. Ensure the business is structured appropriately to provide the highest quality, productivity and product/service value to exceed customer expectations.
Responsible for setting, executing, tracking, and reporting of strategic initiatives that will generate incremental revenues with profitable returns, reduce waste/cost, create new opportunities for growth, and ensure the company remains competitive.
Identify growth opportunities by developing and implementing plans to increase revenue through increased market share, penetration of new markets, create differentiation and promote solution value propositions, development of new products and geographic growth.
Evaluate and decide upon key investments in equipment, infrastructure, and talent.
Increase employee effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, and coaching, managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; and cultivating a climate of transparency and ownership.
Pursue, achieve and exceed cost, revenue and margin targets; develop contingency plans to overcome known and potential obstacles and ensure the achievement of financial and other business goals.
Establish and manage challenging goals, objectives and strategies for improvements in current operations, including existing policy and procedures implementation and operations management in the areas of operational techniques, quality, cost reduction, streamlined processes and performance measurement.
10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial company with a strong track record of driving profitable growth and transformation.
Undergraduate degree required, preferably a graduate degree
Experience with engineering, fabrication, and coating of piping systems preferred.
Experience and successful track record in operations, business development, marketing, and sales.
Experience in developing and implementing a clear and actionable business vision and strategy.
Strong managerial, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, proposal preparation, presentation and negotiating skills
Business leader who has led a business of similar size and complexity.
Sound understanding of management accounting and financial statements
Familiarity with ERP business systems
